Beauty Routine: Current Obsessions

August 22, 2016

It’s been awhile since I’ve taken the time to share my current obsessions. I’ve mentioned before how hard it’s been to transition my makeup to non-toxic options. I’ve literally been on the hunt for 5 years. In the past I’ve found a few great options but non of which I’ve been fully committed to. Earlier this year I told myself I would start fresh and truly commit to “greening” out my beauty products. Seriously one of the hardest transitions in my non-toxic journey. Well… actually giving up candy has been one of the hardest. Anyhow let’s discuss my new obsessions.

#BlackBreastfeedingWeek Event hosted by #NotSoPrivateParts + #SincerelyMama

August 18, 2016

Did those boobs get your attention? If so that’s exactly what we had in mind. We wanted to get your attention so that we can share some disturbing info along with why we think it’s important to have this event and more than anything share the importance of #blackbreastfeedingweek.

Did you know, according to the CDC “Black infants consistently had the lowest rates of breastfeeding initiation and duration across all study years. Black mothers may need more, targeted support to start and continue breastfeeding.”

I am so excited and honored to partner with these amazing women and brands who selflessly will be donating their time and wisdom to help bridge the gap between the black community and breastfeeding. If you are local and can come out I highly recommend you attend, learn, share, uplift, promote and encourage each other as women and more than anything as mothers. As mothers we have a community within itself. And when you become part of any community you have a duty to help those around you.

Parasol- The New Disposable Baby Underwear

August 17, 2016

Being the CEO of a baby store keeps me knee deep in the baby industry. Not to mention as an influencer I get request to review and share “my love of” for certain brands, particularly new and upcoming brands. So to say I’ve tried ALL of the diaper brands currently on the market would be an understatement! I’ve never felt committed to one brand until recently. It’s even harder when you’re in search of the best diaper that’s also eco-friendly and safe! Parasol is the FIRST disposable diaper also known as disposable baby underwear on the market that I finally feel nailed it all! Let’s start with the unbelievably soft texture. So soft that after using these diapers I began to wonder how my child didn’t have chaffing from the other diapers on the market.

How to Choose the Right Car Seat

August 10, 2016

Being that I’m a mama of three under the age of 5 I have had my fair share of anxiety when it comes to choosing the right car seat. There’s so much that goes into choosing the correct seat for your child. From car seat laws to size and safety there’s so much that goes into the research and purchase and at times can be extremely overwhelming.

Recently I came across The Baby Cubby’s Car Seat Guide and had to share it with you all because it totally makes choosing the right car seat anxiety free! JJ was born 5 years ago and since then the laws have changed here in California. Did you know as of August 2016 the new law states that children should be rear-facing until the age of 2? With JJ it was the age of 1 and 20 pounds!!!! Recently I had to switch Jameson back around after reading the guide and boy oh boy did he hate the change back to reverse but it definitely gave my mama heart so much comfort in knowing that heaven forbid there ever is an accident he will be in the safest position.

Bonded! Please always remember that my loves

June 25, 2016

“To the outside world, we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other’s hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time.”

Working Mama… Ergo baby Travels. My first time away from my babies

“Everything happens for a reason, even when we are not wise enough to see it. When there is no struggle, there is no strength.”

This year has been about balance. Something so new to me. For the past 5 years I’ve been a stay-at-home working mama running my own business. I’ve learned to balance but balance within my own home. Balance for me meant responding to emails, hiring employees, fulfilling orders, hiding in the closet to take conference calls and doing all of this while balancing a baby on my back in an Ergo carrier and my two other babies holding each hand. I’ve been lucky enough to bring my babies to work everyday.

Well all of this changed the beginning of this year. We were hit with some major cut-backs at my husband’s job and my business took a huge loss when a big named company came into the eco-friendly and organic product market. Basically this meant it was time for me to start looking for a job. I knew I wanted to work for a company that I believed in. The thing about it is once you work for yourself and put all that passion into your dream it’s hard to work for a company that you aren’t equally passionate about. I was blessed beyond measure to be interviewed for a position with Ergobaby. I’ve been a long time fan of Ergo’s actually for about 5 years. JJ had colic for the first 2 months and my Ergo carrier was the only thing that brought him some comfort.

Long story short I got hired as their Lead Brand Ambassador. Basically my job is to help coordinate events and implement a system of organization to help make sure the logistics of the events run smoothly. I absolutely LOVE my job. I LOVE my co-workers. I LOVE everything about Ergobaby! What is represents, how it treats it’s employees and the mission behind the brand.

Cleaning: “I got this or I’m featured on Hoarders!?!?”

June 7, 2016

What’s your cleaning routine? For awhile now I’ve been trying to master a schedule but it never seems to work out. Some days I swear I’m Mr. Clean himself and some days I swear I should be on an episode of hoarders. With three under the age of 5 it seems there’s no in between. There’s one or the other. We have a clean house like, “please take your shoes off at the door” or “please wear your shoes to avoid a lego injury”. You know those little legos or army men that accidentally get left behind and end up stabbing you right in the pit of your foot? I swear that pain is similar to childbirth. Literally a small part of me thinks I need that old people “I’ve fallen and can’t get up” necklace every time.

Anyhow, I’m curious to know how my fellow mamas do it? Do you do the once a week big sweep or are you a minimalist so there’s no big messes or do you like live with it and surrender to the chaos? Share some tips I’d love to hear!!

5 Top apps for Kids

May 29, 2016

Being a mama of three kids I’m always on the hunt for great apps. Learning apps, fun apps, interactive apps, really any apps that will keep my children busy which also serve as a learning tool. There are tons of apps out there. Many of which will guarantee your child to become a genius in a few months. I’m all about simplicity. I don’t want pop-ups every second and I don’t want to upgrade. I’m just looking for a quick, fun, and easy to access learning game or video that makes my child smile while I eat my dinner at King’s Fish House. Are are my favorites:

Growth + Goals… currently

April 29, 2016

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetRecently while late night web trolling I came across a blog post that truly hit home. Dani Hampton from Sometimes Sweet wrote a post about goals. Goals that are practical, honest and true to the heart. This topic hits home because it’s been a minute since I set some goals. With so much happening and so much change it’s been sorta hard to set standards and goals. What her post did was remind me that goals can be simple, realistic and attainable. Goals don’t have to be that mansion on the hill or that dream job that I’ve been applying for. My goals can be simple. Simple as cook dinner at least 4 times a week and make sure to say prayers every night with the kids. With that said here are my current goals:

Joy Movie Screening, High Tea + Mompreneur Panel with Club Momme &

April 28, 2016

Have you guys had the opportunity to see the movie Joy yet? Recently I was invited by Club Momme and to attend a screening of the movie followed by high tea and an amazing Mompreneur panel of amazing speakers. What an amazing day!!! The movie was BEYOND inspirational and touching. I literally was in between laughs and tears the entire time. If you haven’t had the chance to see Joy yet I highly suggest checking it out.

After the screening Club Momme + hosted an amazing high tea which included a panel of mompreneur speakers. The speakers included Catherine McCord (Weelicious Founder), DeNai Jones (Petunia Picklebottom Founder), Andrea Williams (Tubby Todd Founder) and Melissa Kieling (PackIt Founder). Can you say HEAVY HITTERS!!!

What an amazing and inspirational day. As a CEO myself I know the ups and downs of business. I know the extreme hustle and dedication it takes to run a successful business. It’s hard guys. It’s not always easy but the reward can be great. I can take my babies to work with me. I can be home when their sick. If you have any desire to start something you’re passionate about go for it! Do not give up!!! You know the saying, “reach for the moon even if you fall short you’ll land among the stars”.
